What is the basic difference between quantization and sampling?

  1. I expect to elaborate the point

  2. Sampling = a process where a continuous time continuous amplitude signal is converted into a discrete time continuous amplitude signal.

Quantization = a process where a continuous time continuous amplitude signal is converted into a continuous time discrete amplitude signal.

Thus sampling + quantization or quantization + sampling converts a continuous time continuous amplitude signal into a truly discrete time discrete amplitude signal which can be encoded into packets of binary data and sent over a channel

  3. perfect explanation
    thanks maulik
i just want to add one more of my interpretation
Quantization and Sampling are orthogonal processes with respecdt to amp and time and there combination gives us a complete digital signal and the rest of my explanation is given by maulik
